The Grand Sempler goes to the project  »I (Dis)own My Child«

12 gold and a grand prize were awarded at the 17th Sempler Awards. This time, the Semplers went to 3 countries of the Adriatic region; beside Slovenia, also to Croatia and Serbia. The Grand Sempler Award for Best Media Strategy of the Year in the Adriatic Region was received by the »I (Dis)own My Child« work, designed by McCann Belgrade and UM Beograd for a non-profit organization LGBT+NGO ‘Da se zna’.

This year’s Sempler competition for the best media strategies of the year attracted 80 entries, 42 of which were shortlisted. A nine-member international jury selected 12 media projects and awarded them the Gold Sempler Award, while the first prize, the Grand Sempler, was awarded to the project »I (Dis)own My Child«. It was designed by McCann Belgrade and UM Beograd for the non-profit organization LGBT + NGO. This time, works from three countries in the region; in addition to Slovenia, Serbia and Croatia also received the Semplers.

Would you (Dis)own your child?

With the project »I (Dis)own My Child«, the authors of the project received the highest award in the competition of the Sempler Awards – the Grand Sempler, wanted to make the public aware of the plight of the LGBT community. »The project tries to make people realize that the family should be a cell of unconditional love and support. One of the biggest fears of individuals in the LGBT community is rejection of the society, and it is particularly difficult to cope with the rejection of their own parents,« McCann Belgrade and UM Beograd campaign creators explained about the importance of the ‘Da se zna’ LGBT + NGO non-profit organization project.

The charm of the Sempler competition lies in the mix of creativity, media, and efficiency

As the Sempler Prize Jury Chairwoman Eva Aljančič, Executive Director at HoT Mobil and Ventocom.SI, said, the expert jury was unanimous in naming the recipient of the Sempler Grand Prize: criteria for the best media strategy of the year, which was further confirmed with each round of voting. »Moreover, when evaluating the works or the results of campaigns, the jury paid particular attention to the source environment came from, when evaluating the works or the results of the campaigns, because, according to Aljančič, it is not necessary to compare directly in a particular category, and broader. These are differently sized and, last but not least, culturally different markets.«

The president of the jury advises applicants to take more time in the future to decide in which category to submit their works: »The jury members have repeatedly agreed that individual works would shine much more if they were applied into a more suitable category.«

Who are the winners of the Gold Samplers?

Additionally, the Advertising Agency McCann Belgrade received two Gold Semplers for the campaign »I (Dis)own My Child«, in the category Innovative use of the communication channel. In the Best PR strategy or promotion category, the Gold Sampler was awarded to »Baby Chooses Where«, designed jointly with UM Beograd for The Coca-Cola Company. Another Gold Sempler went to Serbia, in the Best targeted campaign category. For the VIP mobile, the campaign called »Intarifa – Chat Interviews« was designed by the advertising agency Fullhouse Ogilvy in collaboration with OMD.

Two Gold Sempler awards went also to Croatia. In the Best experiential action category, the campaign titled »Monument to the Unchiseled«, created for PIPI Beverages, was produced by agencies Imago Ogilvy and Drap. The Golden Sempler in the Optimal use of the mobile environment category was awarded to the »Narodni radio on Viber« campaign. It was produced for Narodni Radio by Mediacor and All Market Media.

The highest number of Gold Semplers, as many as seven, staid in Slovenia. The Gold Sempler in the Optimal use of the digital environment category was received by the »First Slovenian GIFO.OTHEQUE«. The campaign was created by Agencija 101 and Media Publikum for hte Laško Union Brewery. The Gold Sempler in the Strategic use of the media web category was received by the “Winning service” campaign. It was created for Petrol by Agencija 101 in collaboration with media partners Media Publikum, Bid Bid, and GIG. In

The Gold Sempler in the Use of the most effective marketing category was awarded to »The stolen sex tape« which was created by Pristop for the OnkoMan Society. The Gold Semper in the Best campaign on social networks was received by the Youtube channel NekNeki, which has been developed for Telekom Slovenije within the Pristop group, where their agencies Pristop, Renderspace, Pristop Media and D’Agency joined forces. The Gold Sempler in the Optimal use of data category was awarded to »Argeta Vegetable Spreads« for predictable digital advertising. It was created for Atlantic Grupo by iPROM and Valicon. The Gold Sempler the Best new media/media format category was awarded to the »Milk Books«, created by Futura DDB for Spar Slovenia. The Gold Sempler in the Best technological approach category was awarded to the »VR CHEF experience« campaign. It was designed for Atlantic Group/Droga Kolinska by Luna\\TBWA, in collaboration with Media Publikum, CNJ, Unsanctioned media, and Squareme.

 

In the evening after the first day of the 21st SEMPL Media Trends Conference, in addition to the Grand Sempler and twelve Gold Semplers, two special TOP SEMPL awards were presented The Media Manager Award 2019 went to Aleš Muhič, member of the management and marketing director at PRO PLUS, and the Media Star of the Future 2019 award went to Darja Mravinec, digital media planner, Futura DDB.
